At West Coast Gardens, we value giving back to the community and creating joy with gardening. During spring this. year, many of our employees volunteered their time to weed, plant and prepare the gardens at the Peace Arch Foundation Lodge for summer. We were honoured to be invited back to tend to their gardens for fall and keep the landscape looking fresh for winter.

The residential care facility provides medical services for patients requiring complex residential care, specialized mental health treatment, and hospice care. The Peace Arch Hospital Foundation is an organization that is close to our hearts because of its mission to raise funds, advocate, and support initiatives that enhance the health and wellness of the seniors in our community.

The shared outdoor garden and courtyard space is important to the people at the Peace Arch Foundation Lodge, as it allows them space to meet with family and friends while social distancing, as well as providing a beautiful spot to get a bit of fresh air.

For fall and winter, we filled the gardens with friendly pansies and violas to create a rainbow of colour, as well as tidying up the heuchera, grasses and hostas. We also added in new soil and mulch, to keep the current plants healthy and nurtured during the cold season. Mix in some laughter, weeding, and a lot of west coast weather, and you've got a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved!
