Jason’s Garden Planting for Fall to Spring
What to do with your garden in fall? How do you prepare it for the winter and spring, so that you don't have to worry about it again until next year? Jason has some great ideas...
First things first, take out those summer annuals. It's a tough thing to do, especially when the plants still look lovely, but they won't last long and it's better to do it now than wait until the weather is cold and wet. If any of your summer annuals are still blooming and you can't bear to toss them, you can always transfer them into pots in order to let them live out the rest of their lives on the patio or by the front door until late fall.
Planting bulbs in pots, then burying those in the garden, will create a beautiful splash of colour in the spring! You can plant your bulbs super close together, go ahead and crowd them, in the pots or in your garden. Add sea soil on top for instant fertilizer!
Next Jason rakes out his soil, breaking up any chunks or rough patches, then adds sea soil to the entire garden to keep it healthy right until next spring. Using 6-packs of colourful pansies he plants them 6-8 inches apart across the entire garden, creating an easy to care for and bright front yard.
With these quick ideas you can have a bold and beautiful garden all fall and winter, with bulbs coming up in the spring!
