Although orchids are often held up as only being sophisticated and elegant plants for a refined look and space, they can also be turned into a beautiful rustic orchid accent for your home.

We've taken this gorgeous white Phalaenopsis orchid and planted it in well draining soil in a simple, natural looking shallow dish. Pairing it with the ever popular and versatile Succulent plant, we've added in a few of our favourites around the entire planter, so that it can be viewed from any angle.

For accents in this planter we wanted to stick with a rustic style, choosing pinecones, cut branches and large bark substrate. Get creative with your planter, search outdoors and see what you can find that might create the look you're going for!

The succulent plants need to be watered once a week, adding water to the areas they are planted in. The orchid likes to dry out between waterings, so you don't need to soak the entire pot each week. Give them both plenty of light to maintain their health, then sit back and enjoy your rustic orchid.
