The Colours of Coleus for Your Modern Garden

It’s no secret that Coleus is one of my favourite go-to plants for container gardens and hanging baskets. The bright colours, vigorous growth and huge variety make them the perfect choice in any design. Here at West Coast Gardens we grow 25 different varieties of this colourful foliage!

One of the reasons I  can’t get enough Coleus is because of the splash of colour it adds to your planter without adding any extra work. No flowers means no deadheading, which makes it super easy to take care of for those with limited time in their daily lives.

With modern advancements and cultivation, Coleus has been transformed into a well rounded plant with varieties that love the sun and the shade. As well the punchy pops of colour come in a variety of extremely bold and contemporary hues.

Easy Care Tip

My best tip for caring for your Coleus is to keep them from getting cold or wet. Plant them around mid-May to make sure the ground and temperatures are warm enough. When watering your plants, try to water deep inside the planter so that you don’t splash Coleus leaves.
