String of Pearls

Curio rowleyanus A unique succulent, the String of Pearls is an elegantly draping plant that grows at a moderate rate. You can grow this plant indoors, then put it on the patio during the warm summer months. The String of Pearls is closely related to all the other varieties, such as String of Turtles, String of Beans, String of Hearts, etc.

The care instructions below can apply to all of these types of succulents. 

LIGHTING

Native to Africa, String of Pearls enjoys bright and indirect light for at least 6-8 hours a day in order to thrive. It can take direct light for a few hours during the day, but usually it's best if that is softer morning light rather than the scorching afternoon sun.

WATERING

Keep the soil evenly moist, especially during the spring and summer. If the 'pearls' are looking flat, that means the plant is being underwatered. The String of Pearls is a succulent and can handle occasional drought situations if you miss a watering. Use a well-draining soil and a pot with drainage holes to make sure the roots are not sitting in water for prolonged periods of time. 

CARE TIPS

String of Pearls is easy to propagate by placing cuttings in soil and waiting for them to take root. This plant is toxic to humans and animals, so keep them away from your children and pets.
