Build a Nest of Blooms

The birds aren’t the only ones building nests this spring, we’re breaking out the nesting skills as well with this beautiful potted plant container garden.

Our first step is to plant your ivy near the edges of the container, and let the long vines hang down the sides of the pot. We then covered the outer part of the soil with moss, making a soft bed for the “nest” to sit on. Our nest is a grapevine wreath, with pussy willows woven into it to soften the branches.

What else is in our Nest of Blooms?

  • Daffodils
  • Iris
  • Tulips
  • Crocus
  • Primula
  • Pansies
  • Sedum
  • Forsythia (Branches)

Of course we had to add a cute little bird in there to really make it feel like home! This project is great because it’s not limited to spring. Want to make a beautiful Autumn style nest? Choose plants and blooms that accent the gold, red and yellow colours of fall. A winter nest can be created with white and red blooms and berries. Keep it fresh by changing it up.
