How to Care for Your Carnivorous Plants

Carnivorous plants are among the most unique house plants you can get, with their bold colour and strange shapes...not to mention their eating habits! If you have even wanted to bring one of these beautiful plants home, but aren't sure how to take care of it, then Bryan is here to give you all the tips you need.

Carnivorous plants like bright, indirect light. A windowsill is a great spot, as long as it is not south facing. If you are worried about direct sunlight, then use a curtain or screen to protect the carnivorous plant's delicate leaves.

These plants are native to swamps, so they prefer to have soil that is kept moist. You can use a flood tray so that the water is sucked up by the soil from the bottom of the pot. Keep an eye on it and don't let it dry out.

Use filtered water on your carnivorous plants, as they don't need the minerals and nutrients in tap water. They get all the food they need from catching flies and other insects!

Carnivorous plants will go through a growing season, and then a season of dormancy. Don't worry if your plant spends a month or two looking a bit stagnant, it will perk up again!
